We happened to arrive the week this proud community was celebrating their 3 local hockey teams
(Senior, Junior & Women).All three happened to win top honours in their respective category during
annual Nunavik 2006 hockey tournament. And to top-it-up, once again, for the third year in a row,
Peter Kiatainaq and his unrivalled team of Inuit huskies were the first ones to cross the Ivakkak
dog team race finish line, making him and his partner, young Peter Qisiiq,
the champions of this 2006 challenging edition.
It did not take long before this athletic community managed the simple and easy technique of
Parasking and race down accross Wakeham Bay with their team mates. The weather finally clearing out in the surrounding hills led to magnificent views of a very colorful bay.
